It’s the beginning of Day 3 in Vienna and we are plotting the road trip that we’ll be taking over the next few days. Prague, Munich, and Berlin are for certain stops, but given than any one location is 6 hours away or less makes driving off somewhere else even more tempting. Saturday I got a room in the Hotel Frankenstein (the exact name escapes me). It’s only up the road from where Wombat’s is located and right on top of the Westbahnoff underground station. The U3 line to be exact. Amy noticed that there is no U5 line which I find quite intriguing. Is this perhaps where James Bond goes to meet Q and M and Moneypenny?

Saturday night featured the Bermuda triangle of bars here in Vienna. We were out until 5 AM when the U-Bahn lines started up again so we could get back to our respective homes. I tried out the absinthe for the first time ever. Not bad. I did not hallucinate, but I am told that some people react to absinthe by imagining odd things. Mine was diluted by water and 2 strategically placed sugar cubes. I like sugar cubes. I wonder if they make Splenda sugar cubes. Mental note.

Sunday featured a return to the theater where I saw BASIC INSTINCT in 1992. We saw DREAM GIRLS which was fairly decent, although now that I’ve seen it the curiosity factor is so over. Amy (Philadelphia) and I (Houston) met up with Dan (New York) and Nicole (Chicago) at the Anton Frank Cafe right across from her apartment. I loved the atmosphere as they were playing a wild variety of classical music. It made the wine and beer go down that much better. The great thing about the trip is that I’d only known Amy for all of about 4 cumulative hours starting back when we met at Nocturne night club in Philadelphia several years ago. She is uber cool, as are her friends. So, yes, things are going great. I will endeavor to take some photos and post them during my next blog post. More to come!
