good things come

I bought the South Park Season 10 pack on iTunes earlier this year and was annoyed by the fact that Apple decided to split the season into two parts and essentially double charge if you wanted the second half. Lame! I’ve been so busy with The Work that I didn’t have any time to use the blog to vent and whine and complain about this grave injustice to the fun loving man (and woman). If you read the email I received from Apple when I purchased what I thought was Season 10, it makes no mention that I’m only getting half a season, nor that it is called season 10A. The 10A moniker didn’t happen until late this year when new season 10 episodes began airing again on Comedy Central. Apple tried to claim they had the right to modify the availability of anything in their store without notice. What they failed to admit was that they had changed the description of the product that I’d already purchased. Modifying the availability of something means you stop selling it altogether. I wouldn’t expect to buy a CD and then be told halfway through the download that the other half of the tracks must now be purchased separately. Glarggh! However! Apple has now set things right by giving all of us season ”10A” buyers the second half (i.e. season ”10B”) for freeeeeee! Yeah! Free! Mmmmm! This had been the first ”Season Pass” that I’d ever purchased and it was nearly the last. Good move, Apple. I can now afford a larger apartment!

Here’s the letter from Apple admitting they made a mistake and then making up for it in spades. Yay. Free. Yay.

Dear Mark,

We sincerely thank you for being an iTunes customer and we value your
continued business.
