4 hours 2 go til superman returns

2006.06.27 16.34

It's four hours away and I'll be watching SUPERMAN RETURNS at the Minneapolis Zoo IMAX. It will be a welcome diversion even though I've been having a lot of fun at work now that we are finally at a place where we can start our development tasks. I dig that stuff. I'm seeing the film with friends from work. I completely intend to giggle with delight and all the other goofy stuff the FARKers accused me of. Yeah! Good times! The SPIDERMAN 3 trailer comes out today and it should be attached to the film. We'll see about that. Right now I'm gonna run to the gym and work out for 45 minutes. It's been a long time since the working out, Dr. Jones. Shoulders and back using as many dumbbells as I can manage. I'll toss in some bicep and tricep work in there just to round things out. The abs will also find some time. I'm needing to talk to my Philly trainer and friend JUSTINSANE. I'll be in Philadelphia in a week to see Madonna so, of course, I'm gonna get a workout in. I still need to post my last two podcasts. I have to edit them together before that will happen. You can always watch this snippet from my SUPER GENIUS IN PORTUGAL PODCAST EPISODE 5. Be kind.

i got fark'ed

2006.06.13 11.31

I got Fark'ed! Prepare to read a lot of trash about what people think about me based on the site. The hilarious part is that nearly none of them read the whole FAQ on the Batmobile page which says I had nothing to do with the car other than buying it. Durh.

over vacationing

2006.06.08 5.28

Sometimes during any vacation you will reach a saturation point where the worries of your other life become more vivid with each passing moment. I think I hit that moment this morning at 6 AM when I was walking back from the clubs and saw the sunrise above the Mediterranean sea. Reading an email from Charles, a fellow coworker at The Big Insurance Company, also sealed the deal. What we have to talk about is blocked below (so you can skip it in the event you start to feel somewhat comatose).
Framework for portal navigation, framework for web services, context diagrams, use case diagrams, wire frames and/or UI navigation models, a design appoach document, class diagrams, sequence diagrams, and the occasional activity diagram here and there.

I was in Portugal's Lisbon and Porto for the most part of last week. This week I'm in Spain's Barcelona and have been filling in the gaps from my 1992 vacation in Europe when I completely bypassed these countries due to the Summer Olympics activity. I will have to say that weighing Portugal and Spain together and trying to decide which one is better was not very difficult. Spain wins hands down. The beaches are great. The food is great. The language is great, too. Everyone speaks Spanish so any previous Spanglish that you happen to know is a perfectly acceptable form of communcation. I will attempt to give a day by day breakdown when I return to town this Saturday afternoon. Town being Minneapolis. If I have not written to you personally yet, that's because my internet time has been extremely limited. One free laptop for the entire hotel. Next time I'm bringing my laptop and an obnoxious pirate-worthy wireless transmitter that can reach me all the way to the beach. Mmmm.

sitting in lisbon

2006.06.01 3.24

I left Minneapolis on Friday night at 7 PM aboard a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam. What seemed like only a few hours passed and night quickly became morning again. I always forget why they call these things red-eye flights. I wandered around Amsterdam and found amusing things such as Paprika flavored Pringles potato chips. Mmm. My flight to Lisbon was interesting in that I'm pretty sure they were allowing smoking on the flight. How bizarre is that? Probably not as bizarre as the Portuguese keyboard I'm typing on now. So, anyway, I met up with Katherine at the hotel after a minor bit of being lost. We sized up the city and the next morning her sister Natalie joined us. I have been filming most of our activities in the hope of putting together a couple of podcast episodes. I am more aware of the fact that this stuff needs to be funny for it to be worth your time. I think I have done a little of that here and there. Running around on castles will hopefully fill that humor void.

Check back later and when I have more time there will be more detail. I saw X-MEN 3 and THE DA VINCI CODE so I may be posting my first reviews of films seens overseas. Woo.
