Extended Frisky The Cat Rescue Scene from
SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE (1978) The Salkind International Cut
(AKA The Extended Television Version from February 7 and 8, 1982)
What I like about this scene is that so many things are different, and yet so many
things are the same. The little girl's dialog is presented differently -- some might
say as if an adult voiceover person redid the lines in the extended cut. Even Frisky
gets in on the action as his meows in this extended cut are far different from that
in the theatrical release. Frisky's owner is even given a few extra lines herself
although they consist mostly of complaints about Frisky. I don't know why this is
one of my favorite scenes from the movie. Could it be the irony that the mother
doesn't believe her daughter and smacks her upside the head? Could it be a nod to
the fact that Superman just put away a cat burglar? You decided!
